The Madness of Hope

Going Home

Adrianna's story and her decision is here.

The day has finally come when her wish is being honored: the wish to go home. The first leg of that journey home begins tomorrow when she will leave the hospital without nutrition and medication (with the exception of pain killers and oxygen) and go home to her mom, dad, and two little sisters.

Adrianna is filled with joy and expectation. She cannot wait to 'have Jesus wrap His arms around her and dance with her.' She has given her all with many treatments as well as two bone marrow transplants. Brave through pain, sickness, immobility and discouragement, she has finally said she cannot keep trying.

Her joy and peace are contagious. However, her mother's heart is tearing apart; to which Adrianna says, "Mom, you can do this. You are strong. I'll be watching from heaven and cheering you on." Please, please pray for mom right now. Her pain is 'unimaginable'.

When I asked Adrianna what her prayer requests are, she says, "Pray that it won't hurt when I die." So, I ask you, my family, to honor that request and pray with her. She also wants us to pray for her mother, and for her two sisters, fearing that this could turn their young hearts away from God.

Tonight I stay with Adrianna in her hospital room. It is her last night in a hospital, the last night in almost a year and a half. She says we will have a party. For my little friend, despite the pain and her need to push her pain medication every few minutes, this is a time of celebration.

She is going home.
