The Madness of Hope

Be Prepared to Give An Answer For Your Hope

If someone asked you today, “Why are you a Christian?” What would you say?
What has God done in your life that you can articulate in less than five minutes to make God appealing to a non-believer?
Many of us will flounder for words and end up sharing details the other person has no interest in. Sometimes we are not clear because we are searching in our minds for what to say. The other person, in return, might become bored and disinterested.
Do you have in your mind the reason you have hope in Christ and how that hope has changed and enriched you? If not, it is a good exercise for everyone to write it out, shorten it and have it in your heart and mind. Share it with your family, your friends, even your dog! Just have it ready to share in an easy and convincing manner.
When others see the peace, purpose and passion God has brought into your life, it might spark questions that will enable you to share more of your story.
However, if you are only met with a shrug, be convinced that through the Spirit, you have planted a seed. Trust that God will send another to water and grow that seed. The main thing is that we are prepared to share!
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect!” 1 Peter 3:15
