The Madness of Hope

She Chose God over Prostitution

At a young age her life began a downward spiral. She had a child who was taken into custody by the father. Now she shares a home with another man and has a baby. They share an apartment and she has to sell her body to man after man just to pay her rent. It is the only way she knows to bring in money.
A lady in her apartment complex begins praying for her.
Another lady asks her to take her to a bible study at a church. She agrees and for several weeks she takes the lady and returns two hours later to pick her up. One week, she does not have enough gas money to take the lady but is too ashamed to tell her. So she stays for the study. Blown away by the strange words she hears, she decides to return the next week.
She sees the lady in her complex that has been praying for her. The lady is carrying a bible and she says, “Hey, I’ve been going to a place that is studying that book. Would you like to go with me?” The lady already has a church and a bible study but agrees, seeing this as an open door.
Another lady at the church meets the young woman after a couple months and invites her to come to her home to study the bible with her and a friend. She agrees.
One evening, the young woman arrives at the doorstep and rings the doorbell. Just before the door is opened, she receives a text from a client. She is faced with a choice. Does she take the job and pay the rent? Or does she decide to place her trust in the God she has been learning about.
At that moment the door opens. The light spills out of the open door and the smell of homemade food fills her nostrils. The woman opens her arms for a hug and the young woman falls into the room, into the older lady’s arms, and bursts into tears.
She made her choice.
Satan made one last effort, one last call to return to the lifestyle of sin, of empty promises and abuse.
God offered love, warmth and freedom.
She chose God.
I think of the lengths God went to reach this young woman for Him, and the lengths He goes to daily to bring us back when we dare even think of straying.
We have so many choices.
Choose God.
