The Madness of Hope

The Prayer Room

I had the opportunity to meet an incredible woman of God that heads up projects in one of the shantytowns outside of Johannesburg, South Africa. She works in Outreach at Northfield Methodist Chruch. The church has a prayer room that blew me away and I wanted to share some photos of that room.

This room is open 24/7 and available for quiet prayer or prayer with another. On walls are signs to post prayer requests, praises and questions.

On one wall is a mirror with scripture to encourage people to recognize their worth in God's eyes.

There is a desk with paper and pens so you can write a letter to God or a note to post on the walls.

We all have questions, especially in times of need. These are posted so others can respond or so that a qualified person can help with answers.

Do no be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. And the peace of god, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
I wrote a blog entitled "Place of Worship " and the need for a quiet place within our church walls where one can come to be alone with God. This is a perfect example of what one church can do to provide a quiet place of prayer.
